[In the meantime, Aunamee holds him close.

Aunamee's not warm -- not like a living person -- but he makes up for it by moving close to the heater, hoping that the drifting warmth will provide comfort to the poor little bat. He doesn't say anything. Instead, he savors this moment. The peacefulness. For Aunamee, this is as close as he gets to serenity. Without murdering anyone, anyway.

He'll give him time.

[It's comforting. It probably shouldn't be, given who both of these people are, but Danny is reaching a level of contentment here the longer they sit in this spot. In fact, he's even started to make a low noise that almost sounds like a bat's equivalent to purring, which may even turn into full on squeaking if Aunamee tries to pet the bat here.]

[Aunamee isn't the sort of person who idly pets animals -- like most things in his life, it's a conscious decision. But when he hears the purrs in his sleeve, he does reach a hand in to pet the bat, using careful, delicate strokes. When he was a child, animals used to hate him, as though they could sense the cruelty brewing inside him. But -- much like with humans -- he's learned the right way to flatter them. To make them comfortable.

In other words, he's giving some damned good pets.]

[It takes a while before Danny even realizes what sounds he's been making, and once he does, he very quickly stops or at least attempts to bury his face in Aunamee's sleeve, even if the pets the bat is getting are damn good.
